Jane owned the building which houses her Sportswear shop, Hales Sportswear.
The building forms a little mall. Her son Mitch made a comment to her
one day. He said "Every little mall has a cafe." So, Jane built
one. With the help of her contractor, John Sweeney of Kansas City,
they remodeled the big original building and added the cafe. She
wanted a sports theme place with the feeling of Cheers, without the
booze, you know, where everyone knows your name and they're glad you came.
That's just what it turned out to be. Jane is currently running the
place. Her son said "Mom, I thought you'd build it and lease it.
I didn't know you'd run it, too!" But she is. Jane said, "Not
that I'm cooking, I have great cooks, not that I'm a waitress, I have great
waitresses, not that I'm managing it, I've got a great manager, but if I
come in and see something that needs to be done, I pitch right in and help
like the rest of the team. And, that's what makes Time Out a
great success - Every player on the team does their job and cares about the
cafe being the best in Buffalo, Missouri." |
